AN EVENING TO REMEMBER

It was an evening to remember Tuesday, April 22nd, at the Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio. The stars shined that night and there was none that shined brighter than Mr. Chookie Alberini. The gracious host for so many years of the fine dining restaurant, Alberini's, was glowing in the admiration and concern that was being shown to him. My encounter with him was wonderful as always. We reminisced of times when Chookie would bring his guitar to a friend's house and perform a medley of Elvis Presley songs for all those who were there. Smiles and good cheer led to familiar faces I haven't seen for some time.

Mr. Costner's daughter, Lily, was the opening act. She did a terrific job performing mostly original songs and getting the crowd ready for the band to take the stage. During her 45 minute acoustic set, she was accompanied by musician/singer, Gill Landry. Lily's style of story telling made the audience immediately feel as though they were listening to a family member of their own. She was gracious and dignified throughout the entire concert. She even took a moment to sign autographs for eager fans waiting nearby after the show.

The diversity of the crowd was astonishing. Packard Music Hall, I don't believe, has ever shown her beauty like this night. By the time Oscar Award winning Director & Actor, Kevin Costner, made his memorable entrance to the stage, it was though a family reunion of souls had taken place. Even before the concert began, the people were overwhelmed by emotion and excitement.

The band, Kevin Costner & Modern West went through a set list of original material that was inspiring and uplifting to the soul. The band was well rehearsed and worked as professionals the entire evening. Mr. Costner was focused, humble and gracious even as an adoring fan screamed out "I love you, Kevin!" right before a heartfelt song called "Love is Everywhere". When the crowd cheered for one more song at the end of the night, the band performed the classic hit, "Mr. Tabourine Man". (written by Bob Dylan/Recorded by The Byrds).

After all was said and done, the sound was great. The lighting was amazing. The performance was spot on. Thank you to Sunrise Entertainment, Packard Music Hall and everyone involved in making this successful event possible.
